Living in the eighteenth century, Mother Elisabetta deeply understood that suffering was an integral part of human life. She recognized that it had the power to draw us closer to Jesus, who Himself endured persecution and death. Despite her noble background and family's resources, Elisabetta was profoundly aware of the struggles of the poor and often made personal sacrifices. Like many of her contemporaries, she was no stranger to personal sacrifice.
Mother Elisabetta sought to imitate Jesus in His poverty and suffering, finding joy in accepting struggles and pain. She often reminded her sisters, "A suffering accepted is no longer suffering." By modeling her own life after the example of the obedient, suffering servant, she encouraged her sisters to do the same. She encouraged them to meditate frequently on the passion of Jesus and to pray the Seven Sorrows of Mary daily, desiring they would unite themselves with Jesus in the same way His mother, Mary, had done.

Love of the Crucified
As daughters of Elisabetta, we are called to recognize our crosses in following Christ's Crucified, identifying ourselves with Him in every painful situation. By doing so, we trust that resurrection will follow.
